Welcome to our
Dojo!
Toronto
Aikido Centre, is one of the
oldest, as well as newest, Yoshinkan Dojo's in town. What we mean to
say is that Toronto Aikido is the
re-incarnation of Seimeikan Dojo.
In March of 2003
Karasawa Sensei, 7th Dan, decided
to retire after over 15 years teaching at the Seimeikan Dojo. After
much thought, many conversations, and support from the community, he
decided this Sr. student
Alan
Shumak should take
over, while he stayed on as technical advisor as well as chief
instructor. Hence Seimeikan become TAC (Toronto Aikido Centre).
While day to day operations
were taken over by
Alan, Karasawa Sensei
stayed on during the fall and winter sessions running classes. Together with assistance from past as well
as present students, Alan has completed a rebuilding program that
has
developed the dojo into an even stronger, more vibrant place to train.
Student numbers are up and class participation is building.
Maintaining a strong program
based on many years of following Karasawa Sensei's lead, with a
touch of modern resource management, allows TAC to combine the best
of tradition as well as modern approaches to training and fitness.
We welcome the opportunity to
show you our dojo and our training. Please feel free to visit during
scheduled class times, or call for additional information.
